Nursing Teaching on Contraindications for Benazepril Use

Nurse educated the patient and caregiver on contraindications for using Benazepril as follows:

  1. Liver disease: Benazepril is a drug that is mainly metabolized in the liver. If liver function is deficient, the metabolism of Benazepril can suffer and so, does the function too.
  2. Renal disease: Benazepril is mainly eliminated by the kidneys. Individuals with renal disease and diminished renal function cannot eliminate Benazepril normally. So, Benazepril can be toxic in individuals with renal disease.
