Patient/caregiver was educated on how to prime an Albuterol aerosol inhaler as follows:

1. When a new canister of Albuterol aerosol inhaler is being used, the canister may not deliver the correct amount of medication with the initial actuation of the inhaler.
2. So, priming of the Albuterol canister should be done, to make it ready for use.
3. Insert the Albuterol canister firmly into the mouthpiece.
4. Take the cap off the mouthpiece and shake the Albuterol inhaler well for 5 seconds.
5. Hold the inhaler at an arm distance, away from your face and press on the canister to release the medication into the air for two times.
6. Improper medication delivery happens to be an issue even with old canisters that have not been used for more than a week or two. Priming of such canisters also helps proper release of Albuterol on actuation.
