Internal and External Hemorrhoids
Patient was educated on internal and external hemorrhoids as follows: Internal hemorrhoids form in the rectum. These hemorrhoids are usually not visible, unless they swell and prolapse outside through the anus. Internal hemorrhoids mostly are not painful, as pain sensitivity in this area is limited, due to limited nerve supply. Heavily swollen and prolapsed hemorrhoids can give rise to intense pain.
