Patient was educated on hypertension as follows:

  1. Hypertension is defined as excessive force exerted by the blood on the walls of the arteries.
  2. It is defined by a systolic blood pressure more than 140 and diastolic blood pressure more than 90.
  3. Hypertension may go unnoticed for years without any symptoms, causing slow and gradual damage to vital organs, such as, heart, kidneys, and the brain. So, it is called silent killer.
  4. Prolonged unresolved hypertension can result in stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and renal failure.
  5. There is no one defined cause for hypertension. Multiple factors, such as, obesity, diabetes, unhealthy diet, lack of physical exercise, chronic smoking, and alcoholism have their interactive roles in the progression of this condition and so, management measures are also varied.
