Patient was educated on the advantages of having fiber in the diet:
- Foods rich in fiber makes one feel full for a longer time and this helps prevent snacking. This will help prevent spikes in blood sugar.
- Fiber also helps with portion control, as fiber fills one up easily. This helps preventing excess eating during a meal.
- Dietary fiber usually comes from plant or vegetable sources.
- Patient was instructed that total requirement of fiber is about 35 – 40 grams per day.
