Patient was educated on Diflucan and its mechanism of action as follows: Diflucanis an antifungal medication that inhibits synthesis of Ergosterol. Ergosterol is a component of fungal cell membrane and is very important for the survival of the fungus. Inhibition of sterol synthesis in the fungal cell wall by Diflucan, makes the fungus more susceptible to Diflucan. Thus, Diflucan inhibits growth of the fungus.
