Nurse Teaching on Celebrex and Mechanism of Action
Patient was educated on Celebrex and its mechanism of action as follows: Celebrex is an NSAID. This medication acts by exclusively inhibiting only the cyclooxygenase enzyme 2 (COX-2). Celebrex has no action on COX-1. Inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme at the site of injury results in reduced production of prostaglandins in the injured tissue.
