Patient was educated on different ways they can incorporate more fiber in the diet:

  1. Substitute whole grain cereal and whole grain bread instead of refined and white bread. Check the ingredients for whole grain, such as, whole wheat or whole oats.
  2. Try brown rice instead of white rice on your meal. Your target is to select foods that provide about 3 – 5 grams of fiber per serving.
  3. Substitute whole fruit over fruit juice, as the skin of the fruit is very rich in insoluble fiber.
  4. Try adding peas and beans to soups and salads
  5. Substitute raw vegetables, such as, carrots and cucumber with bean dip or hummus as healthy snack instead of cookies.
