Patient/caregiver was instructed upon indications for triazolam use as follows:

  1. Triazolam, by enhancing the effects of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA, can contribute towards promoting sleep. So, it can be used in individuals with trouble falling/staying asleep and insomnia.
  2. By depressing the brain and spinal cord, promoting dizziness, and reducing the activity and alertness, triazolam can help in reduce excitability and relieve symptoms of anxiety. So, triazolam could be used to allay the anxiety before any medical or surgical procedures.
  3. Triazolam by inhibiting the nerve impulses can help with reduced excitation of nerves, thus contributing to seizure control.
  4. Triazolam has more sleep induction potential than antianxiety and anticonvulsant actions. So, triazolam is mainly used for managing insomnia and sleep disorders.
  5. In addition to this triazolam offers some muscle relaxation and promotes rest in individuals with muscle spasms. Triazolam can sometimes also be used along with antipsychotic medications, such as, olanzapine and clozapine, to control mild agitation and anxiety in individuals with history of mania and bipolar illness.
