Patient was educated on the side effects of using Trazodone as follows:
Nausea and vomiting
- Trazodone use can result in common general constitutional symptoms such as, nausea and vomiting, and dry mouth.
 - Take trazodone after having a meal or a snack, to avoid having an unpleasant nausea and vomiting sensation with the medication.
 - Sucking on a hard candy can ease the discomfort of dry mouth.
 
Elevated intraocular pressure
- Trazodone has the potential to increase the intraocular pressure, thus contributing to headache, glaucoma, and deteriorating vision.
 - Any blurred vision, headache, eye pain, seeing halos, and diminishing vision while taking trazodone should immediately be reported and evaluated.
 
Cardiac arrhythmias
- Patients with personal and family history of cardiac arrhythmias and episodes of heart attack, are at increased risk for presenting with life-threatening arrhythmias with trazodone.
 - Report any episodes of chest pain, increased dizziness, racing and pounding heartbeat, and loss of consciousness while taking trazodone should immediately be reported and evaluated.
