Patient was educated on contraindications for using Trazodone as follows:
Cardiac arrhythmias
- Patients with personal and family history of cardiac arrhythmias and episodes of heart attack, are at increased risk for presenting with life-threatening arrhythmias with trazodone.
- Discuss with your physician regarding your history of cardiac arrhythmias, if any.
- For individuals with such history, trazodone must be very cautiously administered and patient should be closely watched for symptoms of worsening arrhythmias.
History of drug abuse and suicidal thoughts
- Individuals with history of drug abuse and suicidal thoughts can sometimes present with worsening mood, anxiety, impulsive behavior, panic attacks, and trouble sleeping with trazodone.
- Trazodone must be very cautiously administered and response closely monitored in individuals with such history.
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to trazodone.
