Patient/caregiver was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Megace as follows:
- Your physician could change the dose of Megace, based on the relief obtained or side-effects developed. Stress, developing any infection, and deterioration of overall health can mandate dose changes on Megace. So, maintain compliance with follow-up physician appointments, to update on the relief from symptoms and obtain an overall status on health. Be accommodative to the plan of dose changes, until you show an optimum response.
- While using Megace, periodical evaluation of your liver and renal functions could be performed, as the drug is majorly metabolized by the liver and excreted by the kidneys. These tests help to avoid any serious toxic effects developing from compromised liver and renal functions with Megace intake. Observe compliance with any labs ordered.
- If you miss a dose, try taking it at the earliest notice of noncompliance. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the dose scheduled. Do not take an extra dose to try making up for the missed dose, as it can lead to toxicity with the drug. Notify your doctor and other health care personnel regarding your dose noncompliance.
