Patient/caregiver was educated on contraindications for using Anastrozole as follows:
- Anastrozole carries the risk of causing and/or aggravating cardiac arrhythmias in individuals with history. Anastrozole can also interact with many antibacterial and antifungal antibiotics, antiarrhythmic medications, diuretics, antidepressants, and antipsychotic medications, resulting in development or aggravation of underlying cardiac arrhythmias, leading to debility and sudden cardiac death. Avoid taking anastrozole along with medications belonging to the above-mentioned groups, to prevent any dangerous arrhythmias from developing.
- Anastrozole intake carries the risk of increasing the blood lipid levels, contribute to forming atherogenic blocks in the blood vessels, and result in compromised blood supply to the heart muscle, episodes of chest pain or discomfort, exacerbation of shortness of breath, and even heart attack, leading to debility and sudden cardiac death. Anastrozole could be avoided or used with close monitoring of cardiac function, in individuals with history of chest pain and myocardial infarction.
