Patient/caregiver was educated on signs and symptoms of statis dermatitis as follows:

  1. Stasis dermatitis is a skin condition caused by inadequate drainage and increased accumulation of fluid in any part of the body.
  2. As gravity acting in downward direction generally leads to fluid accumulation in the lower extremities, findings of stasis dermatitis are also more commonly noted in the lower extremities.
  3. Blocked drainage with accumulation of fluid can result in extreme swelling of the involved body part, with a sensation of fullness and aching.
  4. Swelling due to fluid accumulation can lead to intense stretching of skin, pain & tenderness, and weeping or oozing of fluid from the affected body site.
