Patient/caregiver was educated on signs and symptoms of statis dermatitis as follows:
- Stasis dermatitis is a skin condition caused by inadequate drainage and increased accumulation of fluid in any part of the body.
- As gravity acting in downward direction generally leads to fluid accumulation in the lower extremities, findings of stasis dermatitis are also more commonly noted in the lower extremities.
- Blocked drainage with accumulation of fluid can result in extreme swelling of the involved body part, with a sensation of fullness and aching.
- Swelling due to fluid accumulation can lead to intense stretching of skin, pain & tenderness, and weeping or oozing of fluid from the affected body site.
