Patient/caregiver was educated on social distancing for COVID-19 as follows:

  1. When an individual coughs, sneezes, or talks, droplets from their mouth or nose get dispensed into the air and are deposited on various surfaces located within a 3 feet distance around. Individuals located within 3 feet distance can also inhale these droplets into their lungs.
  2. Individuals infected with COVID can dispense the virus along with the salivary and nasal secretion droplets into the environment around. Infected individuals but yet asymptomatic and unaware of their infected status could be dispensing off the virus in their droplets too.
  3. The virus along with the droplets could be inhaled by people around, resulting in viral transmission and spread of the infection.
  4. Social distancing is a CDC recommended measure of maintaining a safe distance of 6 feet from others around, in both indoor and outdoor environments. This can help reduce exposure to the air-borne droplets and thus, reduces the risk of individuals contacting COVID.
  5. Individuals tested positive for the virus, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, should observe the protocol for isolation and stay indoor completely.
  6. Practicing social distancing in combination with other safety measures, such as, wearing mask, using gloves, regular use of hand sanitizer, avoiding crowded environments, cleaning & disinfecting surfaces around, avoiding touching the face with unwashed hands, and frequently washing hands with soap & water for at least 20 seconds, contribute significantly to contain the spread of COVID-19.
