Patient/caregiver was instructed upon Skelaxin and mechanism of action as follows:

  1. Skelaxin is a muscle relaxant, used to relieve muscle spasms caused by injury and sprain, and promote muscle relaxation.
  2. Skelaxin works by depressing the brain and spinal cord.
  3. Depressing the central nervous system and consequently inhibiting the nerve impulses sent to the skeletal muscle contribute to relief of muscle spasms.
  4. By relieving spasms and promoting relaxation of the muscle, Skelaxin helps with relief from muscle pain.
  5. Depressing the brain and spinal cord also leads to some sedation and dizziness, which also contributes to relief from pain and discomfort due to muscle spasms.
