Patient/caregiver was instructed upon Skelaxin and mechanism of action as follows:
- Skelaxin is a muscle relaxant, used to relieve muscle spasms caused by injury and sprain, and promote muscle relaxation.
- Skelaxin works by depressing the brain and spinal cord.
- Depressing the central nervous system and consequently inhibiting the nerve impulses sent to the skeletal muscle contribute to relief of muscle spasms.
- By relieving spasms and promoting relaxation of the muscle, Skelaxin helps with relief from muscle pain.
- Depressing the brain and spinal cord also leads to some sedation and dizziness, which also contributes to relief from pain and discomfort due to muscle spasms.
