Patient/caregiver was educated that the signs and symptoms of head injury can vary depending on the severity of the injury suffered. Mild head injury can result in the following signs & symptoms:

  1. Bruising and swelling: The site of injury can be bruised & inflamed with swelling and the individual can present with a bump on the head.
  2. Pain: Mild head injury can result in inflammation at the site of injury and result in pain.
  3. Bleeding: Depending on the impact of injury, an individual can present with external bleeding on the head and/or internal bleeding inside the head. Mild head injuries usually might result in only some external bleeding. The impact of injury must be severe for one to present with internal bleeding.
  4. Headache: The inflammation at the site of injury can result in headache. It can also be due to the impact of injury on the skull bones.
  5. Irritation and sleep disturbance: Unrelieved headache can contribute to irritation and poor sleep.
  6. Dizziness & confusion: The impact of injury on the brain can result in temporary symptoms of dizziness, altered level of consciousness, poor thinking abilities and confusion.

If the impact is mild, these symptoms can be self-limited and improve or resolve in due course of time.
