Patient/caregiver was educated that signs and symptoms of aortic stenosis can vary from mild to severe depending on the degree of stenosis, severity of obstruction to the blood flow, and the extent of vital organ compromise.

Patient/caregiver was educated regarding signs and symptoms as follows:

  1. Palpitations and arrhythmia
  • Damaged heart muscle, secondary to poor blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle, can lead to palpitations and arrhythmias.
  1. Tachycardia
  • As the blood pressure falls heart rate can increase, as the heart can try to compensate for the low blood pressure, by working harder.
  1. Murmur
  • Patients can present with stenotic murmur of the heart that is heard clearly on auscultation of the chest.
  1. Weakness and fatigue
  • Reduced blood supply to the muscles can result in reduced oxygen supply to the muscle, thus leading to muscle pain, fatigue, and reduced endurance to activity.
