Patient was educated on side effects of using Pacerone as follows:

  1. Symptoms of hypotension can occur secondary to reduced heart rate. This can reduce blood supply to the vital organs, such as, brain and results in symptoms such as, dizziness, headache, and feeling lightheaded.
  2. Pacerone can cause rapid heart rate, fluttering in the chest, shortness of breath, dizziness, and episodes of loss of consciousness. Pacerone has the potential to cause new arrhythmias or worsen the current arrhythmias, which is referred to as a proarrhythmic effect. So, caution must be exercised to prevent this situation and manage it, in case it were to occur.
  3. Reduced blood flow to the peripheries can result in muscle cramps, weakness, and fatigue.
  4. Pacerone has the potential to cause intense pulmonary fibrosis with severe breathing difficulties, especially when used in large doses.
  5. Pacerone can deposit in the skin leading to a bluish discoloration and can precipitate episodes of severe photosensitivity.
  6. Pacerone deposition can also occur in the cornea and liver, especially with high doses and result in visual disturbances and alteration of liver functions with hepatitis.
  7. Pacerone deposition can also occur in the thyroid gland, especially with high doses and can result in either hyper or hypothyroidism.
  8. Pacerone use can cause edema and fluid accumulation, resulting in weight gain and fatigue.
