Patient was educated on the side effects of using Lisinopril as follows:

  1. High potassium levels
  • Lisinopril tends to retain potassium in the body, in exchange for sodium loss.
  • This can lead to high potassium levels, which can be very dangerous at times.
  • Grossly elevated potassium levels can sometimes result in irregular heart rhythms, leading to episodes of dizziness, abnormally fast heart rate, palpitations, shortness of breath with poor endurance, and chest pain.
  1. Dry cough
  • Dry cough is one of the major side effects of Lisinopril use.
  1. Hypotension
  • Excessive loss of sodium and fluid volume from the body can result in very low blood pressure levels.
  • Patients can experience dizziness and lightheadedness with rapid heart rate.
