Patient was educated on contraindications for using Diflucan as follows:
- Patients with history of antibiotic associated diarrhea must be cautious about using Diflucan. Discuss with your doctor regarding your history of the same.
- Diflucan is minimally metabolized by the liver and Diflucan intake can lead to hepatic injury. Individuals with history of compromised liver function cannot metabolize Diflucan and this can lead to increased blood levels of Diflucan for longer duration, leading to toxicity. Diflucan should be avoided or used with extreme caution in such individuals.
- Diflucan is significantly excreted unchanged in urine. Individuals with compromised renal functions tend to retain the drug in the circulation longer, thus resulting in toxicity. Diflucan should be avoided or used with extreme caution in such individuals.
- Individuals with history of seizures and hallucinations can present with exacerbation of these symptoms with Diflucan. Diflucan should be avoided or used with extreme caution in individuals with seizure history.
