Patient/caregiver was educated on contraindications for using Clonidine as follows:
- Do not take clonidine, if you ever manifested any allergic response to intake of clonidine. Discuss your history of allergic response to this medication with your physician, without fail.
- In the event of any current manifestations of any allergic response with this medication, report it to your physician or other health care personnel immediately, to check regarding your safety with continuing on intake of this medication.
- Clonidine can interact with a lot of other medications, thus influencing blood pressure and heart rate numbers, and can contribute to Avoid using clonidine along with any other medications that can cause slowdown of heart rate, such as, beta-blockers and calcium channel blockers. Using them together can result in extreme slowdown of heart rate and can present an emergency.
