Patient was educated on the side effects of using Robaxin as follows:

Respiratory depression

  1. Robaxin, especially when taken in high doses, can lead to depression of respiratory center in the brain and consequently cause exacerbation of SOB, and difficult breathing.
  2. This risk with robaxin can be even high when it is taken along with any other products and medications causing central nervous depression, such as, alcohol, antidepressants, antianxiety medications, opioid pain killers, and sedatives.
  3. Individuals with history of breathing disorders, such as, asthma, emphysema, and COPD, are at increased risk for presentation with severe debility due to respiratory arrest from robaxin intake.

Hypotension and bradycardia

  1. Patients with history of hypotension and bradycardia are at increased risk for presenting with these findings with Robaxin, as the medication has a chance of lowering blood pressure and reducing heart rate.
  2. Report any episodes of increased dizziness, syncope, and loss of consciousness while taking Robaxin.

Muscle weakness

  1. Robaxin use can result in muscle relaxation and also can lead to intense muscle weakness.
  2. Patients can also present with motor incoordination leading to shaking or jerking of one or other extremities.

Erectile dysfunction

  1. Robaxin use in some males can sometimes result in erectile dysfunction and consequently compromise the sexual life.
  2. Report the finding to the physician for any necessary accommodations.
