Patient/caregiver was educated on contraindications for using Rivaroxaban as follows:

  1. Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with any active bleeding from any wound or surgical site. Using Rivaroxaban in such individuals can result in uncontrolled hemorrhage and blood loss.
  2. Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with valvular heart disease and with prosthetic heart valves. Use of Rivaroxaban in such individuals carries a significant risk for clot formation and consequent embolism.
  3. Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with history of active bleeding stomach ulcers. Using Rivaroxaban in such individuals can result in uncontrolled hemorrhage and blood loss.
  4. Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with history of inherited or acquired bleeding disorders. Using Rivaroxaban in such individuals can result in uncontrolled hemorrhage and blood loss.
