Patient was educated on the risks involved during the procedure to insert pacemaker as follows:
- Infection at the site of incision on the chest, where the pulse generator is implanted or at the site of catheter insertion in the blood vessel.
- Bleeding from the site of incision on the chest.
- Damage to the vein at the site of catheter insertion.
- Damage to the lung while working on the chest during the surgery can result in complications like hemorrhage, extreme shortness of breath and lung collapse.
- Check with your doctor regarding the material used during the surgery and notify your doctor if you are allergic to any materials planned for the surgery.
- Pregnant and breast feeding females should notify the doctor on the same, before the procedure.
