Patient/caregiver was educated on measures to manage and prevent development of corns as follows:

  1. Take time every day to have the corn soaked in warm water for 15 minutes. This can help to soften the hardened skin on the corn. This softened skin can be easily removed by rubbing it with a nail file or an emery board or a soft bristled toothbrush.
  2. Individuals with history of corns on feet must clean the feet everyday with warm water and antibacterial soap. Dry the feet good using a clean towel, especially between the toes. Applying moisturizing cream to the feet every day can help prevent excessive dryness of the feet and soften the corn. Avoid applying any moisturizer in between the toes, as this can increase chances for fungal infections.
  3. Avoid wearing shoes with too big heels and narrow toe boxes. This can provide better arch support and avoid undue pressure and compression of toes, thus helping to prevent development of corn.
