Patient was educated on the process to clean a spacer as follows:
- Clean the spacer once every month, after detaching the spacer from the inhaler.
- Cleaning the spacer more frequently than once a month can lead to built-up of static in the inside of the spacer, which can compromise the function of the spacer.
- Rinse the spacer gently with mild soap and warm water. Do not use any disinfectants to cleans the spacer.
- Air dry the spacer, by leaving it out overnight. Do not dry the inside of a spacer by wiping it with a towel, as it can lead to built-up of static in the inside of the spacer, which can compromise the function of the spacer.
