Patient/caregiver was educated on the precautions to be observed while taking Proscar as follows:

1. Take Proscar dose at the same time, every day, to avoid forgetting the intake of medication.
2. Patients can sometimes present with nausea and vomiting, secondary to Proscar intake on empty stomach. Taking the Proscar dose with some food or snack can counter these unpleasant gastrointestinal side-effects.
3. Maintain strict compliance with intake of the medication as ordered, with regards to dosage and frequency, to derive the benefit of the medication.
4. Do not change the dose on this medication without consulting your doctor.
5. Observe compliance with periodical lab draws ordered, for evaluation of the prostate specific antigen (PSA).
