Patient was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Ibuprofen as follows:

  1. If you are taking Ibuprofen on an as needed basis, do not wait for the pain to peak to have your pill. Pain medications work best when taken at the first appreciation of pain, before the pain peaks.
  2. Maintain a close watch on the volume of urine flow at every void, and add up all the volumes for the day, to obtain 24-hour volume. Report to the physician at the notice of any unusual drop in the urine volume.
  3. Ibuprofen can sometimes result in ringing in the ears and hearing loss, especially, when taken with Lasix. Avoid taking this medication with Lasix to prevent this drug interaction.
  4. Watch out for any continuing or worsening pain, to report to your doctor immediately, so that, a change in plan could be considered.
  5. Try practicing alternative pain management measures, such as, deep breathing and relaxation and visual imagery, to be able to cut down on pain medication and avoid the long-term side effects of pain medications.
