Patient was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Advil as follows:
- If you are taking Advil on an as needed basis, do not wait for the pain to peak to have your pill. Pain medications work best when taken at the first appreciation of pain, before the pain peaks.
- Advil carries the risk of causing dizziness and confusion. One should stay away from activities, such as, driving and operating heavy machinery, until they are used to the side effects caused by Advil.
- Maintain a close watch on the volume of urine flow at every void, and add up all the volumes for the day, to obtain 24-hour volume. Report to the physician at the notice of any unusual drop in the urine volume.
- Maintain strict compliance with intake of Advil as ordered, with regards to dosage and frequency, to derive the benefit of the medication. The dose and length of treatment depends upon the medical condition, severity of pain, and response to treatment.
- If you miss a dose, try taking it at the earliest notice of noncompliance. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the dose scheduled. Do not take an extra dose to try making up for the missed dose. Notify your doctor and other health care personnel regarding your dose noncompliance.
