Patient was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Actoplus Met as follows:
- Report any symptoms of exacerbation of cardiac failure, such as, edema, shortness of breath, reduced endurance, as Actoplus Met is known to increase risk for heart failure.
- Maintain compliance with your dietary recommendations, as ordered.
- Maintain compliance with any exercise schedule prescribed by your doctor. Try not to overdo on your exercise.
- Take weight reading at least twice a week and maintain a log of every reading for comparative feedback. Maintain an ideal weight for your height.
- Maintain strict compliance with intake of Actoplus Met as ordered, with regards to dosage and frequency, to derive the benefit of the medication.
- Observe compliance with any regular lab work ordered, such as, hemoglobin A1c. As Actoplus Met increases risk for heart failure and bladder cancer, periodical follow-up may be ordered on cardiac function and bladder study. Also, as Actoplus Met is mostly metabolized in the liver and eliminated in the urine, compliance with hepatic and renal function panel ordered periodically is highly recommended.
