Patient/caregiver was educated on the side-effects of using Ropinirole as follows:

General allergic reactions                                 

  1. Ropinirole use can result in general allergic reactions, such as, skin rashes, hives, and itching.
  2. Some patients can present with symptoms of severe allergic and anaphylactic response with ropinirole, such as, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, lips, throat, and tongue, with consequent difficulty breathing. Seek emergency medical help for such findings, especially with difficulty breathing, for any appropriate measures to be considered.

Musculoskeletal side-effects

  1. Ropinirole carries the risk of inducing/aggravating tremors and abnormal and uncontrolled body movements, such as, uncontrolled tongue movements, lip smacking, and eye blinking. Dyskinesias could be due to side-effects of various other medications intake or secondary to movement disorders, such as, Parkinson’s disease. Irrespective to the cause of dyskinesias, individuals with history can be at increased risk to present with aggravation of the condition, secondary to ropinirole intake.

 Behavioral side-effects

  1. Ropinirole intake can lead to uncontrollable urges in individuals, prompting them for unusual behaviors. Ropinirole intake can result in urges such as, uncontrollable shopping, gambling, drinking alcohol, and having sex.
