Patient/caregiver was educated on the side-effects of using Primidone as follows:

Musculoskeletal side-effects

  1. Primidone use carries the risk of inducing/aggravating motor incoordination, resulting in clumsiness and unsteadiness during coordinated activities, such as, walking. Poor motor coordination can contribute to increased risk for falls and accidents. Also, individuals can present with severe exhaustion, diffuse motor weakness, and fatigue with primidone intake, which can further complicate the fall risk.
  2. Primidone use can also result in uncontrolled rolling movement of the eyes, contributing to double vision. The confusion and poor motor coordination with primidone intake, added to the double vision, can steeply increase fall risk with primidone.

 Addiction potential

  1. Primidone carries a potential for addiction and abuse. Individuals with history of substance abuse have an increased chance for addiction with primidone use.
