Patient/caregiver was educated on measures to plan for a low fiber diet recommendation as follows:

  1. Nuts & seeds, such as, walnuts, pecans, almonds, chia seeds, flax seeds, and sesame are good sources of fiber. Avoid having them on diet plan, to be compliant with the recommendation for low fiber diet.
  2. Plain yogurt can be a good low fiber snack. While having yogurt for snack or dessert, eat it plain, and avoid adding any fresh fruit, such as, pear, apple, plum, or a peach to the yogurt. Even if fruit were added, you can choose to peel the skin off, as the skin is rich in fiber content.
  3. Dried fruits such as, prunes, apricots, dates, and figs are high in fiber content. Avoiding or having them sparingly on your diet can help reduce fiber intake.
  4. Avoid having any whole wheat bran added to your meal. Whole wheat bran is rich in fiber and is usually recommended for increasing fiber content of the meal. Adding it can seriously compromise the low fiber diet recommendation.
  5. Red, green, black, and yellow lentils are high in fiber content. Avoid or have them sparingly on your diet to help reduce fiber intake.
  6. compliance with low fiber diet recommendation.
