Patient/caregiver was educated on the side-effects of using Lanoxin as follows:

Gastrointestinal side-effects                        

  1. Lanoxin use can result in common general constitutional symptoms such as, nausea and vomiting. Taking dose of Lanoxin with a glass of water, after having some food or a snack can help avoid having unpleasant gastrointestinal symptoms with the medication.
  2. Lanoxin use carries the risk of increased bowel motility and consequently, result in diarrhea. The diarrhea can be self-limiting and resolve in due course of time. Compliance with fluid and electrolyte resuscitation recommendations can help prevent fluid and electrolyte deficits and accompanying side-effects. If you experience any unresolved and continuing diarrhea with Lanoxin intake, report it to your physician or other health care personnel, to accommodate any appropriate changes in your plan of care.
