Patient/caregiver was educated on measures to manage and prevent candida infection as follows:
- Individuals with risk factors contributing to candida infection and history of oral candidiasis must keep a close watch and report findings of white patches on the tongue, in the mouth & throat, with some redness or soreness and burning sensation in the areas involved. Also, report to your physician immediately, regarding any discomfort during swallowing or difficulty swallowing for an early intervention.
- Males with risk factors contributing to candida infection and history of genital candidiasis must keep a close watch and report findings of inflammatory rash with white patches on the penis, itching and burning sensation of the penis, white patches or plaques involving the skin of the groin, and pain during sex.
- Females with risk factors contributing to candida infection and history of genital candidiasis must keep a close watch and report findings of white, clumpy, cottage cheese like vaginal discharge with extreme itching, inflammation, soreness of the labia and vagina, white patches or plaques involving the skin of the groin, and pain during sex.
- Observe compliance with administration of topical antifungal creams/lotions and intake of oral antifungal medications prescribed, if any.
