Patient was educated on Clearlax and its mechanism of action as follows:

1. Clearlax works on the principle of osmosis, a phenomenon of fluid migration from areas of less solute concentration to more solute concentration.
2. Clearlax is highly concentrated with polyethylene glycol.
3. Clearlax tends to osmotically draw water from surrounding tissues into the intestines.
4. By drawing more amount of water from the intestines, Clearlax prevents the stool from drying up and maintains the stool soft by increasing the fluid content in the stool.
5. Soft stools are easier to pass.
