Patient was educated on Colace and its mechanism of action as follows:

1. Colace is a stool softener and emollient laxative, used to prevent episodes of constipation.
2. Colace helps reduce the surface tension, by adding more water and lipid to the stool.
3. Addition of more water and lipid prevents hardening of the stool and maintains it soft.
4. Softening of stools help reduce the pain due to hemorrhoids and ease a bowel movement.
