Patient was educated on blood flow to the muscle of the heart as follows:

  1. The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood out of the heart into the aorta.
  2. The oxygenated blood will be supplied through the arterial system to the various body organs.
  3. Like every other body organ, even the heart will need oxygen-rich blood to survive. Oxygenated blood is supplied to the heart muscle through arterial system called coronary circulation.
  4. Two major coronary arteries branch from the aorta, right and left coronary arteries. Coronary arteries branch off into smaller arteries to provide oxygenated blood to the entire heart muscle.
  5. The right coronary artery supplies blood mainly to the right side of the heart and the left coronary artery supplies blood mainly to the left side of the heart.
