Patient was educated on Nucynta and its mechanism of action as follows:

1. Nucynta is a synthetic opioid pain medication, that is administered by oral route.
2. Nucynta is used to relieve moderate to severe pain.
3. Nucynta binds with the opioid receptors in the brain and block the release of excitatory neurotransmitters involved with pain production. Thus, Nucynta primarily modifies the pain signaling in the brain.
4. This action of Nucynta alters the perception of pain by the patient.
5. Nucynta is also used for management of nerve pain in individuals with peripheral neuropathy.
