Patient was educated on Novolin N and its mechanism of action as follows:
- Novolin N is an intermediate-acting insulin that generally reaches the bloodstream within about 2 to 4 hours after the shot was administered, peaks sometime between 4 to 12 hours after the administration, and is effective approximately for a duration of about 12 to 18 hours.
- Novolin N insulin helps cells in the muscle, fat, and liver absorb glucose from the bloodstream. The glucose taken up by the cells is utilized for the energy the cells need. When the glucose is transported from the blood to tissues, the blood glucose levels fall.
