Patient was educated on nebulizers and its uses as follows:
- A nebulizer is an apparatus that uses compressed air to turn liquid medication into a fine mist, which can be breathed in, using a mouthpiece.
- Different types of medications can be used in the nebulizer for inhalation, such as, bronchodilators and inhaled steroids.
- The mist is easier to inhale than an aerosol spray, especially during an episode of acute exacerbation of asthma, with the airways collapsed.
- Nebulizer mist is easier to inhale also in individuals who are incapacitated and cannot make any additional effort to take deep breaths.
