Patient was educated on the side effects of using Methocarbamol as follows:
General allergic reactions
- Methocarbamol use can result in general allergic reactions, such as, skin rashes, hives, and itching.
- Some patients can present with symptoms of severe allergic and anaphylactic response with methocarbamol, such as, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, lips, throat, and tongue, with consequent difficulty breathing. Seek emergency medical help for such findings, especially with difficulty breathing, for any appropriate measures to be considered.
Nausea and vomiting
- Methocarbamol use can result in common general constitutional symptoms such as, nausea and vomiting, dyspepsia, and stomach upset.
- Taking the medication with a glass of water and some food or snack can help avoid these unpleasant gastrointestinal symptoms.
Erectile dysfunction
- Methocarbamol use in some males can sometimes result in erectile dysfunction and consequently compromise the sexual life.
- Report the finding to the physician for any necessary accommodations.
Hypotension and bradycardia
- Patients with history of hypotension and bradycardia are at increased risk for presenting with these findings with Methocarbamol, as the medication has a chance of lowering blood pressure and reducing heart rate.
- Report any episodes of increased dizziness, syncope, and loss of consciousness while taking Methocarbamol.
