Patient/caregiver was educated on measures to follow while in quarantine for COVID-19 as follows:
- Individuals in quarantine must not share towels, clothing material, handkerchiefs, pillows, comforters, blankets, and other bedding items with any other household members, until the end of quarantine time period. Assign some clothing items for the quarantined individual’s personal use and strictly observe compliance with using them only for that individual. After use by an individual in quarantine, caregivers must observe compliance with wearing gloves while handling the soiled & dirty laundry. Do not shake the dirty laundry items while handling them to put for wash. Shaking the dirty laundry can result in the release of viral particles that are holding on to the dirty laundry items, which could be inhaled by individuals around contributing to transmission of virus. Use the regular detergent for washing with the washer set on warm water setting. After putting the soiled clothing for washing, do not forget to wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap & hot water or a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol in it. Also, after washing is complete, dry the laundry items with the drier set on warm setting. After shifting the washed clothing into drier, do not forget to wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap & hot water or a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol in it.
- Disinfect all surfaces in the assigned bedroom and restroom appropriately, as recommended.
- Monitor all the symptoms of quarantined individual closely to report to the physician regarding any emergency warning signs, such as, unyielding fever, cough, trouble with breathing, unusual shortness of breath, discomfort/pain in the chest, and confusion with clouding of consciousness.
- While disposing the trash of individual in quarantine, caregivers must always wear gloves. After the task is done, caregivers must wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap & hot water or a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol in it.
