Patient/caregiver was educated on measures to follow while in quarantine for COVID-19 as follows:
- In the event of a possible proximity with household members, remember to observe social distance of at least 6 feet from others and have your mask on, covering your nose and mouth completely.
- Use a tissue while coughing or sneezing to avoid making the possibly infected nasal secretions air-borne. Do not rest the soiled tissue on other household surfaces. Discard the soiled tissue appropriately after use. Do not forget to clean your hands with the hand sanitizer thoroughly before you touch any other surface.
- Avoid joining other household members at the common dining, until the end of quarantine time period. Individuals in quarantine should have their meal delivered to or be fed in their room by caregivers.
- Individuals in quarantine should not share dishes, drinking glasses, bowls, cups, spoons, and forks, with any other household members. Assign some utensils for the quarantined individual’s personal use and strictly observe compliance with using them only for that individual. After use by an individual in quarantine, all utensils must be cleaned & disinfected appropriately, as recommended. Caregivers must observe compliance with wearing gloves while handling these utensils. Observe compliance with use of soap and hot water for cleaning & disinfection. If your dishwasher has an option of sanitizing cycle, which aids longer wash times in hotter water, make the selection to use the dishwasher on a sanitizing cycle. After the task is done, caregivers must wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap & hot water or a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol in it.
