Patient was educated on measures to be observed during an acute attack of angina as follows:

  1. Avoid smoking while the chest pain is still continuing, as smoking can cause further compromise of cardiac muscle, thus contributing to the chest pain progress to a full blown myocardial infarction.
  2. Do not try having warm showers with the chest pain continuing. Also, avoid steam rooms and saunas during the episode of chest pain and discomfort, as hot environmental conditions with increased sweating, can contribute towards further reduction of blood supply to the heart and lead to further deterioration of chest pain and progression of angina to myocardial infarction.
  3. Avoid having a full meals during the episode of chest pain. Food in the stomach can increase blood circulation to the stomach, thus adding further insult to the already compromised cardiac muscle. This can lead to further deterioration of chest pain and progression of angina to myocardial infarction.
