Patient was educated on management measures for dyspepsia as follows:

  1. Never eat to your full stomach, which can make the abdominal fullness worse and regurgitation more easy.
  2. Gravity with sitting upright position helps maintain stomach contents down in the stomach and prevents the return of acid contents from the stomach, up into the esophagus. Gravity is no more in play, on lying down immediately after eating food. So, do not lie down for at least 3 – 4 hours after having a meal.
  3. Do not wear tight corsets around the abdomen. This can increase pressure on the abdomen and make regurgitation of acid contents into the esophagus more likely.
  4. OTC antacids can offer some relief. But, consult your doctor before using any.
  5. Exercise control with citrus fruits, such as, lemon, tomatoes, and oranges, as they contain lots of acid, making acid reflux more likely.
