Patient was educated on dietary sources of low phosphorus foods as follows:

  1. Phosphorus can also be added to your foods as an additive or a preservative.
  2. If one is prescribed a diet low in phosphorus or if ones’ renal function is compromised, caution should be exercised in watching for the phosphorus in foods, that is being added as an additive.
  3. Always, look for the phosphorus additives in the food items you buy.
  4. Use jelly beans and hard candy instead of chocolate and chocolate drinks.
  5. Use All-natural lean beef, pork, lamb instead of organ meats.
  6. Avoid yellow of the egg, eating just the white.
  7. Choose Lemon soda and ginger ale instead of dark colas and chocolate flavored drinks.
  8. Choose Sherbet instead of ice cream.
  9. Choose Low fat cream cheese and Swiss cheese instead of processed cheese, ricotta cheese, and hard cheese.
