Patient/caregiver was educated on the side-effects of using Loratadine as follows:
Central nervous system side-effects
- Loratadine use is non-sedating and usually does not result in any confusion, dizziness, and sleep. Occasionally, loratadine intake can cause symptoms of central nervous system depression and individuals can present with mild headache, confusion, and dizziness.
- Loratadine carries the risk of inducing/aggravating symptoms of mood disorders. Individuals taking loratadine can present with restlessness, nervousness, irritability, and anxiety symptoms.
- Loratadine use, in individuals with seizure history, can occasionally result in deterioration of seizure control and episodes of seizures.
