  1. Avoid excessive fatty foods
  • High fatty foods cause relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter and compromise the function of sphincter in preventing attacks of GERD.
  • Avoiding excessive fatty foods in the diet can help preventing acute exacerbation of GERD episodes.
  1. Avoid wearing tight clothing and corsets
  • Avoiding wearing tight clothing can relieve pressure on the abdomen and help preventing attacks of GERD.
  1. Avoid spicy foods
  • Spicy foods can irritate the damaged portions of esophagus and precipitate attacks of GERD more frequently.
  • Avoiding spicy foods can prevent exacerbation of episodes of GERD.
